Brian H. Burke, ASA, President
Brian H. Burke, ASA, is the founder and president of BHBCo. He is BHBCo’s certified business appraiser and leads most of the consulting assignments. Brian is a frequent speaker and writer about issues related to business finance, ownership, and management. Prior to founding BHBCo in 1983, Brian spent nearly 10 years in the insurance industry in both property/casualty and life insurance, and in both sales and company-management roles. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Connecticut. He is a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers, certified in business valuation, and a past president of the ASA’s Connecticut Chapter.
In 2003 Brian was named a director of InsurBanc, a federally chartered bank that lends to and otherwise serves the insurance agency community.

Everett W. Shaw, MBA
Everett, a stockholder of BHBCo, assists in virtually all our business-valuation and consulting assignments and leads some of them; and he manages certain of BHBCo’s internal functions. Prior to joining BHBCo, Everett sold securities for a national financial institution and held marketing positions in the food-service and printing businesses. He has a master’s degree in business administration and serves as an adjunct professor of strategic management at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. He is a candidate for membership in the American Society of Appraisers.

Jason H. Hoeppner, CIC
Jason Hoeppner, CIC, is the most recent addition to the BHBCo team. Jason specializes in technology, workflows, and agency operations with a focus on productivity. He brings a wide range of experience to the table – from IT Project Management to Lean Six Sigma (process improvement) principles. Prior to joining BHBCo, he was an independent consultant to insurance agencies and companies, helping them to get more out of their technology and to implement more effective procedures using that technology. He is an experienced trainer and has extensive leadership experience from his time in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1994 with a B.S. in physics and is now also a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Jason is also a member of the CT ASCnet (Applied Systems Community Network) and participates regularly in AUGIE (ACORD Users Group Information Exchange).
Jason has implemented workflows in numerous agencies and has guided several through technology transitions. He is experienced in Applied TAM, AMS Sagitta, AMS AfW, and Doris.

Dominic A. Setaro, Jr.
Dom joined BHBCo in 2005, after having served for several years as the controller of a large agency, which merged in 2004 with another, even larger agency. Dom was involved extensively in that merger and assisted the newly formed firm afterwards. Prior to his work in the insurance world, Dom was director of accounting and related services for a major Connecticut municipality.In addition to helping us with our internal financial analyses, Dom also assists our clients directly, both on-site and from our office, with their financial admin (the interface of bookkeeping, accounting, management reports, banking, systems, and people). He is familiar with both AMS and Applied Systems.

Bonita E. Burke
Bonnie Burke is Brian’s wife and business partner. She is responsible for the editing and quality of BHBCo’s reports and publications and serves as the company’s treasurer. And like everyone at BHBCo, she does whatever she can to service client needs.
Bonnie has had many years’ experience in editing technical publications, word processing, the development of financial spreadsheets and related tables and charts, and office administration. She attended the University of Connecticut in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
